Ecosummer Expeditions Basecamp Host
The basecamp is located on the Johnstone Strait, just off the border of the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. The reserve is a protected marine and land area dedicated to the preservation of ecosystems supporting species like killer whales and salmon. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in a unique wonderland.
Contract Dates: (flexible)
July 10 – September 15
August 1 – September 10
Wilderness First Aid is an asset
Cooking experience is an asset but training will be provided
Will be responsible for:
- Supporting the customer experience while living at the Ecosummer Expeditions Basecamp on the Johnstone Strait
- Cooking for groups up to 15 in a wilderness setting using a wilderness kitchen (propane stoves, BBQ, non-running water, etc.)
- Camp maintenance for guests tents, kitchen, shower, gear, etc while guests are paddling for the day
- Overall customer experience while guests are on shore, in conjunction with guides
- Supporting staff accommodation and camp needs while coordinating with the team at home base (recycling management, supplies and materials inventory and management, etc.)
- This position calls for a quick learner and an individual with high initiative who enjoys living in the outdoors
- Although primarily working in a team environment, you will, at times, be relied upon to work unsupervised, completing tasks that will require problem solving and competent decision making
Salary ranging from $170-$250 daily depending on experience
Basecamp hosts will be living in tents on platforms at the basecamp while on shift. The camp has hot, outdoor style showers and a composting toilet. It is a soft “glamping”. Interested applicants should be willing and excited to live an off-grid lifestyle
Shift work can vary. Dependent on applicants experience and preferences. Examples of potential shifts are:
13 on, 8 off/5 off
10 on, 8 off/5 off
7 on, 2 off – accommodation can be provided for a shift with 2 or less days off
