Membership Information
The Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC (SKGABC) welcomes all individuals involved in sea kayaking to become members.
We strive to sustain a community of professionals who build meaningful relationships with people, land, and water by fostering a culture of responsibility, expertise, mentorship, and learning.

Why become a member of the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia?
The SKGABC is a leader in promoting sea kayaking guide training in British Columbia and in providing services to its members. We are a community of over 600 active sea kayak guides.

- Promotion of industry recognized operating and safety standards
- Professional training and certification of guides
- Access to our professional purchase (pro-deal) program, with over 20 organizational discounts with retailers, manufacturers, and service providers such as belairdirect insurance group benefits personal health plan and acess to Outdoor Prolink and Expert Voice platforms.
- Additional low-cost training, networking, and professional development in twice-annual Guide Exchanges
- Bonus membership in the BC Marine Trails Network through our direct partnership with them

Certified Guide Membership is open to those who have passed an SKGABC course or exam. This may be a Level One Guide, Assistant Overnight Guide (AOG), Level TwoGuide, or a Level Three Guide or above. Additional accreditations (for instance, first aid certification) are required to maintain certification at a particular level. Certified guides may participate in SKGABC training and Exchanges, as well as act as professional guides within their certification level. They receive one vote at an AGM.
Associate Membership is open to anyone who supports the mission of the SKGABC. Associate Members may participate in SKGABC training and Exchanges (conferences). They are not certified to act as professional guides and do not receive a vote at the AGM.
Certification Transfer if you already have a professional kayak guiding certification or experience with other organizations, you can apply to challenge the SKGABC Level 2 or Level 3 guide certification exam.
Become a SKGABC Guide Member
Step 1: Fill out the SKGABC Membership Application form below for approval.
Step 2: Submit Membership Fees
Step 3: Log in and submit any additional documentation required (CPR, First Aid, logbook, etc)
Upon approval, you will be able to view and print your SKGABC membership card.
