CAMP COOK
Our base camp kayak tours have camp cooks who are an integral part of our team by providing memorable meals in a wilderness setting for groups of 6 to 12 guests.
Camp cooks usually work 8 days on and 6 days off rotation at Kingfisher wilderness base camps on Hanson Island in Johnstone Strait, but there is flexibility to this schedule.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-tour preparation: perform computer-based menu planning based on guest and guide dietary needs
Prepare and cook food following menus and recipes
Chop and prepare ingredients
Operate various kitchen appliances
Serving of food in conjunction with guide team
Customer service
Ensure all camp staff adhere to FoodSafe standards
Maintain a clean camp kitchen by washing and sanitizing surfaces and dishes
Store and secure food items
Perform routine cleaning at camp
Assist with loading supplies and off water taxis
Perform other duties as assigned
Follow Covid-19 guidelines as recommended by our public health region
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* FoodSafe Level 1 (we can provide this training if needed)
* Be physically fit, able to lift heavy bins
* Driver’s License
* Computer skills an asset
