OPERATIONS COORDINATOR:

Working closely and reporting directly to Kingfisher owner Andrew Jones, the Operations Coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of the day-to-day operations that ensure all tours run smoothly allowing the guides to provide our guests with a trip of a lifetime.

You will be working alongside and directing Kingfisher’s diverse team of kayak guides and food preparation staff, plus supervising gear cleaning/maintenance staff.

This is a full-time position from late April to the end of September and is based in Port McNeill. Staff housing is available. Ideally, the successful candidate can start as soon as possible on a half-time basis (can work remotely in the off-season) to learn our systems and assist in preparing for the busy 2023 season ahead. For the right candidate, the job can continue on a half-time, flexible, and remote working basis in the offseason. For year-round employees, health and dental benefits are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain an inventory of kayaks, kayak equipment, camping gear, and supplies.
Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repair of kayaks, kayak equipment, and camping gear.
Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repair of company vehicles and trailers – hiring local licensed mechanics as necessary.
Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repair of company facilities, tools, and equipment.
Shuttling vehicles, trailers, and equipment to launch sites and water taxis as required.
Ensuring the efficient scheduling of kayaks, kayak equipment, camping gear, vehicles, and trailers.
Maintaining, and adjusting as necessary, the water taxi and van and trailer transportation schedules for guides and guests.
Working with kayak guides and food preparation team to ensure equipment and supplies required for each tour are prepared and packed.
Coordinate start of set-up base camps and end of season base camp tear down.
Printing, filing, pre and post tour paperwork.
Completing lands, parks, and First Nations visitor reports as required.
Visiting Kingfisher’s wilderness base camps to ensure everything is in order and conducting minor repairs and maintenance as required.
Supply ordering from multiple vendors.
Coordinate the end of season cleaning and winterizing of kayaks, kayak equipment, camping gear, supplies, and facilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

* Exemplary organizational skills.
* Able to work as a member of a team, take directions, and provide direction.
* Adaptable, problem-solving skills, good communicator, and independent decision maker.
* Familiarity with Word, Excel spreadsheets, Google Workspace products. Able to learn and adapt to new technologies.
* Able to lift 23 Kilograms (50 pounds).
* Class 4 or 5 drivers license is required (class 4 is preferred).
* Previous experience in an operations or coordinator role is an asset.
* Previous experience in the outdoor adventure tourism industry is beneficial.
