The SKGABC Fall 2026 Guides Exchange will an inperson exchange.

Location: Ucluelet
Ucluelet, the picturesque seaside village nestled along the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, is the perfect destination for our Fall Exchange! Located at the southern tip of the Ucluth Peninsula, Ucluelet offers breathtaking views of Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands. Affectionately known as “Ukee” by locals, the community’s name comes from the Nuu-chah-nulth (Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ) First Nations word meaning “people of the safe harbour”—a fitting reflection of this welcoming coastal community.
SKILS and Hello Nature are our hosts for this exchange, and they’ve put together an exciting lineup of activities for the weekend. There’s something for everyone, including a tent sauna from Triple Peak Sauna! And a special skills session for Level three guides on Friday.
We’ll enjoy delicious dinners from Puna Empanadas and Ukee Poke, along with evening presentations from the Redd Fish Restoration Society and Clayoquot Action. Throughout the weekend, we’ll also have a variety of water and landbased workshops to choose from, including CPR recertification hosted by Swell Tofino and a local ecology workshop with the Ucluelet Aquarium.
Accomodation: Ucluelet Campground
Located on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island in Ucluelet BC, expect 125 unique sites spread over 15 acres that range from harbour and mountain views to semi-private forested sites.

What to Bring:
As at all Exchanges, it's best to BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat!) as boats will be quite limited! If you have 2 kayaks and are willing to share, please help support your guide community and bring it out as well!
Full Coast Guard Reguirements are mandatory as always; full immersion gear (drysuits or wetsuits) are required for all rolling & rescue courses. The Exchange is a great time to dust off you guiding gear while brushing up on skills, so feel free to pack along your regular guiding kit (VHF, charts, first aid kit, flares, rewarming gear, etc).
If you're someone who likes snacking through out the day, please also come prepared with your own treats for in between the provided meals and also your own hot drinks!
Special Option for Level 3 Guides Attending the Exchange
Friday October 16th SKILL BUILDING Session 1-4pm (3hrs) Rock Rescues and Extractions with Finn Steiner and Vince Parenteau
This has a mximum capaicity of 10 guides and is an additonal fee of $50.

* This includes, workshops, presentations and meals (2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches)
Fall 2026 Exchange (No meals) - $174
* This includes, your camping fee for Friday and Saturday nights, presentations and workshops.
