Hello! My name is Ellen. Formally I am trained as a Biologist, Geologist, Teacher, AOG, and outdoor educator. I love working and playing outside. I have been lucky to find interesting work in spectacular places and would love to continue that with you! Summary of outdoor work experience: Three seasons as a casual outdoor educator for Yorkhouse School. Two years casual work for Sea to Sky Outdoor school. Two seasons as a biologist for Laskeek Bay Conservation Association, Limestone Island, Haida Gwaii. Six seasons in exploration geology and for the Yukon Geology Survey. I am not working part-time as a teacher in Ucluelet and marvel in incorporating as much outdoor education as possible into the curriculum. Before that, I taught in Bella Coola for two years. I am trained as an outdoor, biology and earth science teacher. My passion is understanding natural systems. I love quietly observing all creatures, especially birds. I also love to connect geological knowledge to understanding biological systems. I have a comprehensive knowledge of many species found along the west coast and am eager to learn more. To expand my local knowledge, I spend a lot of time outside and volunteer at the Ucluelet Aquarium and with Central West Coast Forest Society. I spend my free time in the mountains, surf, snow and water. I am new to kayaking, but I wouldn't disappoint you. I would be thrilled to spend a summer in a kayak with your company.
