Jordie is a Sea Kayak Instructor and Guide and has worked continuously in the kayaking community for the past 27 years - he is a Level 3 Guide with the SKGABC, Level 3 Instructor with Paddle Canada and Level 2 White Water Instructor. Jordie is a past President and Secretary of the SKGABC and is a proud representative of Northwest River Supply and Fjallraven. He has worked with Ocean River Sports since 1996 and many other companies along the coast. He has pursued a life-long interest exploring nature. He has circumnavigated both Vancouver Island with Kirsten Musial (2001) and Haida Gwaii with Ian Smith (2006). He paddled solo paddle from Skagway, Alaska south to the Canadian Border (2019), he did the Outer Centeral Coast from the Pan Handle to Vancouver Island with Jonas Fiors (2009). In 2020 he paddled the Washington and Oregon Coast from Vancouver Island with Larry Chomyn and is currently circumnavigating Newfoundland with Laura Knight. Jordie enjoys teaching paddlers of all levels and is keenly interested in assisting students to reach their goals using innovative and engaging teaching methods. Jordie is licensed through Transport Canada to Captain commercial vessels and is a Member of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue for Juan de Fuca Strait - Station 37. When he's not sea kayaking he loves training therapy dogs, rock climbing and mountaineering. He enjoys writing about and photographing his adventures and shares his stories through social media. Jordie works full time as a Child, Youth and Family Therapist with Human Nature Counselling and Island Health and lives in Sooke, BC with his wife Alysha Jones and their therapy dog Indiana Jones.
