Dear Members,
I am honoured to serve you as the new President of the Board. These are some big neoprene boots to fill and I extend my gratitude to Kate Hives and our exiting Board Members for their hard work, dedication and expertise. The last couple of years, as everyone well knows, have been tumultuous, and I am proud of our organization and our ability to muster strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
I look forward to working with our new Board: Jack Rosen (Vice President), Matt Kellow (Treasurer), Samuel Yates (Secretary), Aleia Wylie (Member at Large), Faroe des Roches (Member at Large), Jonathan Lee (Member at Large), and Kevin Bradshaw (Member at Large). Their diverse perspectives, vast knowledge, and experience in our industry are invaluable, and I appreciate their generosity and time in volunteering for the Board.
Our Executive Director, Janette Galan, has been diligently streamlining and strengthening our administrative systems, organizing our Blended Exchanges, making sure Exams happen, and addressing the various challenges guides are facing in maintaining and upgrading their certification. This is all crucial work and Janette’s vision and insight are indispensable as we move forward.
Behind the scenes, Kyle Born is taking over as Interim Membership Coordinator during Daye Cooper Hagel’s maternity leave, and they have both been actively providing support and communicating with our members regarding the magic that is logs and certification requirements.
As we strive to address the needs of our membership, it is important to remain open to new ideas and suggestions. We invite you to contact us if you have feedback or contributions you would like us to consider, or if you are interested in sitting on a subcommittee to help the organization out at specific times over the slower winter months.
