SKGABC Spring Guides Exchange will be held at Toquaht Bay at the Secret Beach Campground and Kayak Launch. This alluring area with spectacular surroundings will be an ideal place to run through our usual range of workshops on strokes, navigation, rescues, rolling, general camaraderie and more!  For those who have not attended an Exchange before, this will be an ideal event to get into it, as there will be ample time to network as well as build your guiding skills toolbox.

Please note: participation in the Guides Exchange is only open to SKGABC members in good standing (Renew Now).

The Secret Beach Campground and Kayak Launch is located on the shores of beautiful Barkley Sound, BC. It is about an hour's drive from Tofino, or a 45 minute drive from Ucluelet. This is the traditional territory of the Toquaht First Nation. The Toquaht are the people of Toquaht Bay, Mayne Bay and western Barkley Sound, and are one of the Nuu-chah-nulth Nations who have lived along Vancouver Island's west coast for over 10,000 years.

Yes, you’ll get to board a ferry if you don’t live on Vancouver Island. Coming from:

Vancouver: Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay Bay or  Horseshoe Bay to Duke Point (Nanaimo). For schedules, see www.bcferries.com.

Carpool with other guides to save travel costs, the environment, and it's fun too! Carpooling threads on the SKGABC Guide Private Facebook Group Page

Group camping is included in your registration at Secrect Beach Campground and Kayak Launch.

Please be prepared to share your tent site with a fellow guide and provide all your own camping gear as none will be available for loaning out.

As at all Exchanges, it's best to BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat!) as boats will be quite limited! If you have 2 kayaks and are willing to share, please help support your guide community and bring it out as well!

Full Coast Guard Reguirements are mandatory as always; full immersion gear (drysuits or wetsuits) are required for all rolling & rescue courses. If you're someone who likes snacking through out the day, please also come prepared with your own treats for in between the provided meals and also your own hot drinks!
