In 2017, the SKGABC Spring Guides Exchange will be held on Gabriola Island, just off of Nanaimo, BC! This beautiful area with gorgeous surroundings will be an ideal place to run through our usual range of workshops on strokes, navigation, rescues, rolling, general camraderie and more! For those who have not attended an Exchange before, this will be an ideal event to get into it, as there will be ample time to network as well as build your guiding skills toolbox.

Please note: participation in the Guides Exchange is only open to SKGABC members in good standing (Renew Now).

Location:

Gabriola Isand, BC; conveniently close to Nanaimo!
Yes, you’ll get to board a ferry (or two) if you don’t live here. For schedules, see www.bcferries.com.
Carpool with other guides to save travel costs, the environment, and it's fun too!

Accomodation:

Group camping is included in your registration.
Boats:
As at all Exchanges, it's best to BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat!) as boats will be quite limited! If you have 2 kayaks and are willing to share, please help support your guide community and bring it out as well! If you are not able to bring your own kayak/gear, some rentals will be available.

Equipment:

Full Coast Guard Reguirements are mandatory as always; full immersion gear (drysuits or wetsuits) are required for all rolling & rescue courses. The Exchange is a great time to dust off you guiding gear while brushing up on skills, so feel free to pack along your regular guiding kit (VHF, charts, first aid kit, flares, re-warming gear, etc). Please also provide all your own camping gear as none will be available for loaning out. If you're someone who likes snacking through out the day, please also come prepared with your own treats for in between the provided meals!

Cost:
    Early bird: $90 by April 21, 2017

    $110 if paid between April 22-May 10, 2017.
$130 May 11 or at the door.

Includes meals, camping option, happy hour, all activities, guest speakers and reps, door prizes and giveaways.
Prepay now via Paypal or Interac e-transfer for the earlybird rate!

Registration:

Help us know how many to expect so we can ensure food and goodies for all! Giving us the heads up that you are coming is EXTREMELY appreciated!
To pre-register, email info@skgabc.com with the following info:

    • Name:
    • Dietary restrictions:
    • Which wet or dry-land skills are you particularly interested in refreshing?:
    Agenda TBA

    Hope to see you there!
