Here is the list of events for the Guide's Olympics contest

Host: Island Escapades Unlimited, 163 Fulford Ganges Road, Salt Spring Island, B.C. V8K 2C6 Click for Map
Cost: $50 includes meals for the weekend
Meals and Lectures: Lions Club of Salt Spring Island, Hart Bradley Hall, 103 Bonnet Avenue Click for Map
Camping: Rainbow Gardens or Ruckle Park
On Water Sessions: Leave from the beach at Island Escapades.

FRIDAY

4 - 6PM
Afternoon session TBA

6 - 7PM Guide Olympics. The person who accumulates the most points in these Games will win prizes donated by Nimbus, Stolquist, Extra Sport, Brooks, Current Design, Navarro, Dakine, Seal Line & Whites.

7 - 8PM Dinner:

After dinner slide show and kayak videos.


SATURDAY

8 - 9AM Breakfast:

9 - 10AM Guide Olympics . The person who accumulates the most points in these Games will win prizes donated by Nimbus, Stolquist, Extra Sport, Brooks, Current Design, Navarro, Dakine, Seal Line & Whites.

10 - 12PM Morning Session #1
Title: Managing Scenarios in Exams and in the Field

10 - 12PM Morning Session #2
Title: Strokes, Detection & Correction – On water session.
          Rescues (if time allows)

12 – 12:45PM Lunch:

12.45 - 1.30PM Guide Olympics .

1.30 - 3.30PM Afternoon Session #1:
Title: Prehistory of the Gulf Islands: Settlement, Subsistence, and Technological Change.
( Handy knowledge for the interpretive guide)

1.30 - 3.30PM Afternoon Session #2:
Title: Kayak Navigation - On water and land based session.

3:30 - 5:30PM Evening Session– A series of two presentations
Title 1: Kayak Operation in theGulf Islands National Park Reserve
Title 2: Being An Interpretive Guide:  Intertidal Life, Marine Mammals, Birds, Geology of the Region - Speaker to be announced

Snack served

6 - 7.30PM Equipment Demo by Current Design, Necky Kayaks & Seaward Kayaks

7.30 - 8.30PM Dinner

8.30 - 10.00PM Product knowledge session by company reps

10.00 - 12.00AM Optional Evening Social: Anise

10 - 10.30AM Olympic Award Ceremonies
